titleOfInvention | Selective herbicide |
abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a selective hericide containing 2-methyl-4'-isopropylvaleranilide as an active component, effective to selectively control the harmful weeds by the foliar treatment in the field of gramineous crops at a low rate of application, and free of phytotoxicity to gramineous crops even at a high rate of application. n CONSTITUTION: The objective herbicide contains 2-methyl-4'-isopropylvaleranilide of formula I as an active component. The compound can be prepared by the reaction of 4-isopropylaniline of formula II with 2-methyl-valeryl chloride of compound III or 2-methylvaleric anhydride of formula IV, and is applied for foliar treatment in the form of wettable powder, emulsifiable concentrate, etc. with or without mixing with a carrier, an assistant, etc. The agent has higher herbicidal activity than known triphenyl, hoelon, DCPA, carsil, etc., is especially effective for the control of the harmful gramineous weeds such as wild oats, lower spear grass, etc. and is absolutely harmless to the gramineous crops such as wheat, corn, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
