abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a thermosetting paint which has good storage stability and gives a coating film having excellent adherability, smoothness, resistance to water and chemicals, etc. even when baked at a low temp., by incorporating a specified quaternary ammonium salt in a thermosetting paint. n CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting paint is obtd. by adding a quaternary ammonium salt of formula I or II [wherein R is alkyl, aryl; X is halogen, HSO 4 , NO 3 , SO 3 R" (wherein R" is alkyl, aryl); R' is alkyl, aryl, H] to a resin compsn. (A) consisting of a base resin contg. crosslinkable functional groups (e.g., polyester or acrylic resin contg. hydroxyl, amino groups, etc.) and a crosslinking component selected from among aminoplast and a blocked isocyanate compd. or a resin compsn. (B) consisting of a self-crosslinking resin having (etherified) N- methylol group.
