PURPOSE: To obtain an optically active cyclopentenone ester in a solvent layer and an optically active cyclopentanone alcohol in an aqueous layer, by hydrolyzing a cyclopentenone ester with an enzyme or a microoeganism, and extracting the hydrolysis product with a hydrocarbon. n CONSTITUTION: A cyclopentenone ester expressed by formula I is hydrolyzed with β-amylase obtained from a pig liver or bovine liver esterase, barley or wheat or hydrolase obtained from a microorganism belonging to the genus Rhodotorula or Trichoderma, etc. to give an optically active cyclopentenone alcohol expressed by formula II and an optically active cyclopentenone ester expressed by formula III. In the formulas I , II and III, R is lower alkyl group; R 1 is H or methyl group; R 2 is 1W3C alkyl group, alkenyl group or alkynyl group. The resultant hydrolysis product is then extracted with an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon to give the cyclopentenone ester in the solvent layer and the cyclopentenone alcohol in the aqueous layer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
