titleOfInvention Improved aromatic polyester and its production
abstract PURPOSE: A polymer improved in moldability without detriment to high heat resistance and providing a molding of improved elongation, prepared by converting the terminals of an aromatic polyester rich in terephthalic acid component into a substituted phenol ester form. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyester comprising a terephthalic acid component, an isophthalic acid component [terephthalic acid/isophthalic acid (molar ratio)= 10/0W7/3], a dihydric phenol component of formula I (wherein R 1 and R 2 are each a 1W4C alkyl, alkoxy, phenol, or a halogen, X is a 1W10C alkylene, a 5W 15C cycloalkylene, O, S, CO, etc., m and n are each 0 or 1, m=0 when n=0, and p and q are each 0W4), and a substituted phenol of formula II (wherein R is an 8W24C alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or a monovalent group derived by bonding thereto O, CO, etc., and r is 1W5). This aromatic polyester is a polymer which retains heat resistance realized by its high content of the terephthalic acid component, and is improved in moldability and the elongation of a molding. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
