titleOfInvention Nonmagnetic steel with high strength and corrosion resistance for use at very low temperature
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled nonmagnetic steel having high yield strength as well as superior corrosion resistance, strength, toughness and ductility and having an austenitic structure which is stable at very low temp. by specifying a composition consising of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, N and Fe. n CONSTITUTION: This nonmagnetic steel consists of, by weight, ≤0.08% C, ≤2.0% Si, 3.0W18.0% Mn, 5.0W15.0% Ni, 8.0W14.0% Cr, 2.0W7.0% Mo, ≤0.30% N and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. The steel may further contain ≤1.0% in total of ≥1 kind among ≤1.0% each of Nb, V, Ti, W and Ta. The austenitic structure of the steel is very stable at very low temp. up to 4°K. The steel has superior corrosion resistance, rust resistance, strength, especially offset yield stress strength at 0.2% permanent set, toughness and ductility, and it is especially suitale for use as a structural material used at very low temp. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
