titleOfInvention Bicyclo(3,3,0)-2,3:6,8-tetracarboxylic dianhydride
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I . n EXAMPLE: 3,5,6-Tricarboxy-2-carboxymethylnorbornane-2:3,5:6-dianhydride. n USE: A plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride or the like, a curing agent for epoxyreisns or a starting material of water-soluble polyester. n PREPARATION: For example, dicyclopentadiene, palladium chloride, cupric chloride and methanol are placed in an autoclave, which is pressurized with carbon monoxide to effect the reaction. The resultant dicarboxylic dimethyl ester derivative is treated with ozone and hydrogen peroxide to form a tetracarboxylic dimethyl ester, then subjected to hydrolysis. Then, the product, a tetracarboxylic acid, is converted into its monoanhydride by distilling off the solvent under reduced pressure, then further dehydrated with acetic anhydride to give the objective compound of formula I . n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
