titleOfInvention Preparation of ferric chelate
abstract PURPOSE: To produce ferric chelate useful as a photographic chemical, minor element of fertilizer, etc., in a short time at a low cost, without producing waste water, by reacting an aqueous mixture (slurry) of hydrated iron oxide and a chelating agent with a reducing agent, thereby accelerating the reaction. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution or slurry of a mixture of (A) hydrated iron oxide consisting of a mixture of ferric hydroxide and ferrous hydroxide or a dried product thereof (preferably Fe content of about 60%) and (B) a chelating agent [e.g. ethylene-diaminetetraacetic aid (EDTA.4H), diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA.5H), etc.] is added with a small amount (preferably 1/10W 1/50 equivalent) of a reducing agent such as hydrazine, hydrosulfite, etc. to accelerate the reaction and obtain the objective ferric chelate [e.g. EDTA.Fe.Na. 3H 2 O, DTPA.Fe.2(NH 4 ), etc.]. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
