titleOfInvention Production of 3-phenyl-2-amino-2-methylpropionic acid amides
abstract PURPOSE: 3-Phenyl-2-amino-2-methylpropionitrile is allowed to react with hydrogen peroxide to enable the production of the titled compound which is used as a synthetic intermediate of L-α-methyldopa, a hypotensor, or an industrial scale. n CONSTITUTION: The reaction between 3-phenyl-2-amino-2-methylpropionitrile of formula I (X, Y are H, halogen, lower alkyl; X, Y incorporate with a part of the benzene ring to form a 3W7 membered heterocyclic ring containing one or two oxygen atoms) and hydrogen peroxide is carried out in aqueous alcohol under basic conditions of sodium hydroxide or the like, at -5W50°C for 0.5W5hr to give the objective compound of formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
