titleOfInvention Highly weatherable resin composition
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain titled novel composition capable of keeping ultraviolet absorbability for a long period, useful for weatherability enhancers, coatings, etc., comprising, as the essential component, a resin prepared by the reaction between a side chain epoxy group-contg. vinyl polymer and hydroxy cinnamic acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin composition can be obtained by incorporating, as the essential component, a resin which is prepared by the reaction between (A) a vinyl polymer with its side chain carrying epoxy group (e.g., a polymer from glycidyl acrylate) and (B) hydroxy cinnamic acid so as to be 0.005-1.5mol of the component (B) per equivalent of the epoxy group in the component (A). For shorter reaction time, use of a catalyst such as triethylamine is recommended.
