titleOfInvention Trans-4-(trans-4'-alkylcyclohexyl)cyclohexyl dichlorobenzoate
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is 1W10C alkyl). n EXAMPLE: trans-4-(trans-4'-ethylcyclohexyl)cyclohexyl 3,4-dichlorobenzoate. n USE: It is used as a component for liquid crystal compositions. It shows its liquid crystal phase over a wide range of temperature and enables the production of display elements of small power consumption. Especially, 2,4-dichloro derivative can be used in two frequency driving display elements as well. It is stable to heat, light, moisture and electricity. n PREPARATION: As shown in the reaction equation, the reaction of dichlorobenzoyl chloride of formula II with trans-4-(trans-4'-ethylcyclohexyl)cyclohexanol is carried out in the presence of pyridine to give the compound of formula I . n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
