titleOfInvention Ion selective electrode
abstract PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of an ion selective membrane, by feeding a plasticizer to a neutral carrier type ion selective membrane from a plasticizer feeder to suppress decrease of a content of it in the membrane. CONSTITUTION:The inside of an electrode vessel 1 is divided into the first and the second spaces with a partition wall 2. The wall of the vessel 1 constituting the second space is provided with holes 3, and the neutral carrier type ion selective membrane 4 is arranged covering the holes 3. As this membrane 4, for example, polyvinyl chloride is used as a material, dioctyl adipate is contained as a plasticizer, and as the neutral carrier a membrane contg., for example, valinomycin for measuring K<+> is used. A plasticizer feeding source 8 obtd. by impregnating the blocks of unwoven fabric with dioctyl adipate as the plasticizer comes in contact with the membrane 4, and electric contact between the membrane 4 and standard electrode 6 is ensured by leaving a part of the membrane 4 in contact with a conductive substance 5. Even if the plasticizer of the membrane 4 elutes into the soln. to be measured during measuring the ion concn., the decrease of the plasticizer content in the membrane 4 is suppressed by feeding it.
