abstract | PURPOSE: To provide an anti-inflammatory ointment for external use having improved transcutaneous absorbability, by dispersing a propylene glycol solution of hydrocrotisone butyrate propionate in an ointment base composed of a paraffinic hydrocarbon and a surface active agent in the presence of purified water. n CONSTITUTION: The objective ointment composed of 0.01W0.5pt.wt. of hydrocortisone butyrate propionate, 2.0W10.0pts.wt. of propylene glycol and purified water (the purified water accounts for 0.1W5.0pts.wt.), 0.1W6.0pts.wt. of a surface active agent and 97.0W75.0pts.wt. of a paraffinic hydrocarbon, is prepared by (1) dissolving hydrocortisone butyrate propionate in propylene glycol under heating, (2) adding the solution to the molten mixture of a higher paraffinic hydrocarbon (fluid paraffin, white petrolatum, etc.) and a surface active agent, (3) stirring the mixture under heating, (4) adding purified water to the mixture, and (5) cooling the mixture under stirring. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio |
