titleOfInvention Production of poly-p-phenylenesulfide
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a poly-p-phenylenesulfide having high viscosity and moldable by melt molding, by reacting a p-dihalogenobenzene with an alkali sulfide in the presence of a zinc compound as a polymerization assistant. n CONSTITUTION: A poly-p-phenylenesulfide is prepared by reacting p-dihalogenobenzene or a mixture of p-dihalogenobenzene and a polyhalogenated aromatic compound having ≥3 halogen-substituent groups (e.g. 1,2,3-trichlorobenzene) with an alkali sulfide in the presence of preferably 0.01W1.5mol, based on 1mol of the alkali sulfide, os a zinc compound (e.g. zinc sulfide, zinc phosphate, zinc carbonate, an organic carboxylic acid zinc salt, etc.) as a polymerization assistant. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
