titleOfInvention | Manufacture of separating membrane made of polysulfone |
abstract | PURPOSE:To manufacture easily a separation membrane made of polysulfone having superior divisibility, water permeability and high mechanical strength by dissolving polysulfone in a solvent incorporating ethylene carbonate having a specified concentration and making a membrane by a wet process. CONSTITUTION:In a solvent incorporating 20-70wt% ethylene carbonate and the rest N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, about 10-30% polysulfone is added and heated to obtain a solution for making a membrane. The solution is cast, dipped immediately and coagulated in a coagulation liquid such as water to obtain a polysulfone separation membrane having high water permeability and mechanical strength. At >=70% concentration of ethylene carbonate in above described solution, about >=150 deg.C polysulfone melting point is required and the control of the manufacturing condition becomes difficult. On the other hand, at <=20% concentration, a high water-permeability value cannot be obtd., so the concentration is regulated to above described values. |
