abstract PURPOSE: To bring a high conc. coal-water slurry to a stable one, low in viscosity and prevented from the aggregation or precipitation of coal with the elapse of time, by adding a specific copolymer in the coal-water slurry. n CONSTITUTION: In preparing a slurry consisting of fine powdery coal as the substitute of petroleum, a coal-water slurry which contains fine powdery coal in high concn. of 60W80%, is convenient to transport because of low viscosity and prevented from the aggregation or precipitation of fine powdery coal over a long period of time is prepared. In order to prepare this slurry, a copolymer containing 70W99mol% of an alkali metal salt such as Na-, K- or Li-salt, an ammonium salt or a lower amine salt such as a methylamine or an ethylamine salt of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and 5W15mol% of acrylamide such as acrylamide or methacrylamide as constitutional units is added in the coal-water slurry in an amount of 0.01W5wt%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
