PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic especially for the skin and hair, containing extract liquid of propolis, having antimicrobial activity against the pathogenic microbials causing dandruff, itchiness and acne vulgaris of the scalp, and also having a skin buetifying effect and hair tonic effect. CONSTITUTION:Propolis (a resinous substance called bees resin and collected and produced from vegetables by bees, and having antimicrobial effect against staphylococci, Bacillus subtilis, fungi, etc.) is collected, and immersed in a mixture of water and a hydrophilic solvent such as alcohol, acetone, etc. or in a hydrophilic solvent to obtain an extract liquid or extract containing about 10wt% of propolis. The extract is added to the base of a cosmetic such as beauty wash, hair tonic, shampoo, lipstick, etc. as an active component. The amount of the active component to be added to the cosmetic is 0.1-10wt% for extract liquid and 0.01-1wt% for extracted substance. The propolis is found in a large amount in the state attached to the hive frame or gap of beehive in bee culture. |
