titleOfInvention Method for adhering fiber and rubber compound
abstract PURPOSE:To enhance adhesion between fibers and a rubber compound and improve flexural stability and water resistance, by a method wherein fibers are soaked with a rubber cement incorporating a urethane-modified epoxy resin, and are brought into close contact with an unvulcanized rubber, followed by vulcanization. CONSTITUTION:The fibers, preferably, glass fibers, aromatic polyamide fibers, aliphatic polyamide fibers, polyester fibers) are soaked with a rubber cement in which a urethane-modified epoxy resin is added in a quantity of 10-200% to the solid content of rubber in the rubber cement, and thereafter the thus treated fibers are brought into close contact with an unvulcanized rubber (preferably, chloroprene rubber), followed by vulcanization. USE:Industrial articles such as transmission belts, conveyor belts and tires.
