abstract PURPOSE: The titled animal drug for domestic fowls, especially effective for preventing and remedying Marek's disease of chicken, promoting further the growth of domestic fowls, enabling the shipment in a short period, containing D- phehylalanine as an active ingredient. n CONSTITUTION: The titled animal drug containing D-phenylalanine having an action on the suppression of reduction in effectiveness of narcotic, analgesic effect, and an action on the prevention of lowering in human functions as an active ingredient. In a method to use it, at least 0.2wt% of the drug in added a feed, and it is administered to domestic fowls infected with Marek's disease. The administration period varies with the sumptoms of the domestic fowls, and is usually 2W5 weeks. D-Phenylalanine of the active ingredient is leaflike crystal having 283W284°C decomposition point, for example, obtained by subjecting the reaction product of benzyl chloride and ethyl acetaminomalonate to N-formylation, followed by racemic resolution with brucine. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1984,JPO&Japio
