titleOfInvention Hair-protecting cosmetic composition compounded with tannin
abstract PURPOSE:To provide the titled cosmetic composition effective to suppress the separation of amino acids caused by the damage of hair, by compounding a cosmetic with condensed tannin. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic composition contains 0.1-10wt%, preferably 1-5wt%, based on the whole composition, of a condensed tannin (preferably having a molecular weight of 500-3,500) having flavan-3-ol, etc. as a basic structure, e.g. catechin, epicatechin, etc. The condensed tannin can be prepared from various plants and crude drugs; for example, a crude extract containing 20-60wt% of tannin can be obtained by extracting DAIO (rhizome of Rheum palmatum), KASHU (rhizome of Polygonum multiflorum), MAO (stalk of Ephedra sinica), tea, miosa, chestnut, etc. with 30-70% aqueous solution of acetone, >=30% aqueous solution of an alcohol, etc. at room temperature -60 deg.C for 15-60min, repeating the extraction process two - several times, and concentrating and drying the whole extract at <=60 deg.C. The crude extract may be used as it is or after purification.
