titleOfInvention Denitrating apparatus
abstract PURPOSE: To uniformly heat-treat a soln. of a starting material such as uranyl nitrate with microwaves and to easily take out a denitrated cake from a receiving container made of a heat-resistant material transmitting microwaves, by making the bottom of the container attachable and detachable to and from the side part. n CONSTITUTION: A prescribed amount of a uranyl nitrate soln. and/or a plutonium nitrate soln. as a starting material soln. A is charged into a receiving container 1 made of ceramics, especially silicon nitride. The container 1 is placed in an irradiation oven 2, and the soln. A is directly heated by irradiating microwaves from a microwave generator 3. By the heating the soln. A is evaporated to dryness, decomposed, and denitrated to form a denitrated cake B of uranium oxide and/or plutonium oxide. The container 1 is made of ceramics transmitting microwaves and having high heat resistance, heat insulating properties, etc. It is composed of a cylindrical or square seamless side part 1b and a flat bottom 1a, and the bottom 1a can be detached from the side part 1b. After finishing denitration, the container 1 is taken out from the oven 2, the bottom 1a is moved in the direction of an arrow, and the cake B is ejected with a pushing rod 16. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1983,JPO&Japio
