titleOfInvention | Flux for removing magnesium and calcium from molten aluminum |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a flux for removing Mg and Ca from molten Al by mixing alkali phosphate with a specified treating agent. n CONSTITUTION: This flux is a mixture consisting of 10W70wt% of ≥1 kinds of alkali phosphates such as potassium hexametaphosphate, sodium hexametaphosphate, potassium tripolyphosphate and sodium tripolyphosphate or a mixture of alkali phosphates and phosphorus pentaoxide and of 30W90wt% of ≥1 kinds of treating agent such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, other halide, borate, carbonate, sulfate and nitrate. The used alkali phosphate has a composition in which the molar ratio of R 2 O/P 2 O 5 (R is K or Na) is 1:1.5W3:1. This flux is added to molten Al and agitated to convert contained Mg and Ca into phosphides. The phosphides are allowed to be absorbed in the treating agent and separated. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
