abstract PURPOSE: The titled composition having a lowered intermediate flush temp., which is prepd. by use of a resin component consisting of a specified water- soluble resin and a water-soluble melamine resin as a vehicle. n CONSTITUTION: After 100pts.wt. styrene-allyl alcohol of OH group content 5W 8wt%, OH group equiv. 200W320, weight-average MW 1,700W2,400 and number- average MW 1,150W1,600, and 10W20pts.wt. monobasic acid such as a soybean fatty acid are esterified to an extent of acid value ≤5, 5W10pts.wt. polybasic acid such as phthalic anhydride is added and reacted to obtain a reaction product of acid value 40W70, which is solubilized in water with addition of 4W 8pts.wt. ammonia or org. amine, to obtain a water-soluble resin (A). Then 100pts.wt. component A, 5W40pts. wt. water-soluble melamine resin and a metal powder are dispersed and mixed, to obtain an aq. coating composition.
