abstract | PURPOSE: The condensation reaction of nucleotides is effected in the pressence of a specific combination of condensing agents to produce oligopeptides used in gene recombination in high yield. n CONSTITUTION: The condensation reaction between a nucleotide of formulaI(N 1 , N 2 are residue of thymine, N-benzoyldeoxycytosine, N-benzoyldeoxyadenine, N- iso-butyryldeoxyguanine; T is dimethoxytrityl; X is cyanoethyl, P- or o-chlorophenyl, trichloroethyl; m is 0, 1) and another nucleotide of formula II or III (N 3 , N 4 is N 1 ; B is benzoyl, anisoyl; X is Y; n is 0, 1) is conducted in the presence of a combination of (A) mesitylenesulfonyltriazole or triisopropylbenzenesulfonyl nitroimidazole with (B) 1-methylimidazole or 4-dimethylaminopyridine to give the objective compound of formula IV or V.
