titleOfInvention Ion selective electrode
abstract PURPOSE:To improve durability and stability, by a method wherein a compound, having a sterilizing power or a propagation-proofing and development-proofing action against a microorganism, is contained in a forming member of an ion selective electrode. CONSTITUTION:An electrode body 1, which has an opening and is divided into two chambers, is formed of a polyvinyl chloride. For example, a chlorine ion selective film 2 is placed at an open end, and the partition chamber so formed with the film 2 is filled with a conductive material 3 to insert a reference electrode 5, made of silver-silver chloride, through a small aperture in a partition 4. A given amount of a compound, e.g., myristyl-trimethylammoniumchloride, cetyltrimethylammoniumbromide or other surface active agents, not interrupting an ion selection but having a sterilizing power or a propagation-proofing and development-proofing action against a microorganism, is added to either of a body 1 of the ion selective electrode so formed, the conductive material 3, and the ion selective film 2. This permits a liquid having a high propagation of a microorganism to indicate a better response.
