titleOfInvention Production of alkylene oxide block copolymer
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain titled narrow MW distribution block copolymer, by block- copolymerizing alkylene oxides by use of a complex catalyst obtained by reacting an organic Al compound with tetraphenylporphyrin. n CONSTITUTION: A complex catalyst, e.g., a compound of the formula, is obtained by reacting (A) an organic Al compound, e.g., diethylaluminum chloride, with (B) tetraphenylporphyrin in approximately equimolar amounts at room temperature. A first aldylene oxide, e.g., ethylene oxide, is polymerized in the presence of the above complex catalyst in an inert atmosphere to form a prepolymer. Susequently, a second alkylene oxide, e.g., propylene oxide, is added to the mixture, and the resulting mixture is further polymerized to yield an alkylene oxide block copolymer. n USE: The copolymer thus produced is useful as a material for nonionic surfactants, disperse dyes or polyurethanes or as a tackifier. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
