titleOfInvention Production of unsaturated amide
abstract PURPOSE: A compound oxide, an oxide of the combination of Ti or Zr with a specific element, is used as a catalyst to effect the catalyst hydration of unsaturated nitrile with high catalyst activity and high selectivity to produce the titled compound with high activity and selectivity of amidation reac tion. n CONSTITUTION: An unsaturated nitrile such as acrylonitrile and water are subjected to catalytic hydration in the presence of a compound oxide containing at least one selected from Ti or Zr and at least one selected from Cu or Cd at 40W 150°C to produce an unsaturated amide such as acrylamide. When necessary, a polymerization inhibitor of oxygen is contained in the reaction feed system to prohibit polymerization. Water is required to be more than the stoichiometric amount to the nitrile. The catalyst is prepared, e.g., by dissolving TiCl 4 and Ca(NO 3 ) 2 4H 2 O in water, adding aqueous ammonia until the pH becomes 7 and calcinating the precipitated metal hydroxides to 400W600°C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
