titleOfInvention Production of porous substance polyvinyl acetal
abstract PURPOSE: Potassium titanate fibers are suspended in an aqueous plyvinyl alcohol by a specific amount and the PVA is acetalized in the presence of pore-foaming agent to produce the titled porous substance collecting fumings in high rate with less pressure loss. n CONSTITUTION: In (A) an aqueous solution of PVA, preferably of 500W3,000 polymerization degree and more than 80mol% saponification degree, (B) 5W200wt% of potassium titanate or its hydrate of K 2 O.nTiO 2 (n is 4W8) is suspended and (C) a pore-forming agent such as starch is added, then they are uniformly mixed. Further, (D) an aldehyde such as formadehyde and an acid suchas sulfuric acid are added in the form of a comined solution to effect the acetalization, preferably at 50W70°C, usually for 5W40hr to produce the objective orous substance. The fiber B is 0.1W0.5μ in the fiber diameter and 5W100μ in length. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
