titleOfInvention Novel 5-deoxyapramycin
abstract NEW MATERIAL:5-Deoxyapramycin of formulaIor its acid dadduct. n USE: Antibiotic against gram-positive and -negative bacteria such as remedy or prophylactic for various kinds of infectious diseases caused by Serratia marcescens. Microbicide for food products, disinfectant. n PREPARATION: Apramycin of formula II is protected in amino groups at 1, 3, 2', 7' and 4" positions with benzyloxycabonyl groups, further in order, in hydroxyl groups at 5 and 6 positions, then in hydroxyl groups at 6', 2", 3" and 6" positions. The protecting groups at 5 and 6 positions are removed, only the hydroxyl groups at 6 position is protected, the hydroxyl at 5 position is substituted with a halogen. Then, the halogen at 5 position is reductively removed to give the compound of formula III. Then, protecting groups for amino and hydroxyl groups are removed, e.g., by hydrolysis. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
