PURPOSE:A polyphenylene ether resin composition prevented from deterioration by heat when used at a high temp. for a long time by compounding with a metal salt of phosphonic acid. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. polyphenylene ether resin (A) is compounded with 0.01- 10pts.wt. metal salt of phosphonic acid (B) of formulaI(wherein R1 is a benzen or naphthalene nucleus or a substituted product therefrom, or 1-18C stright-chain or branched alkyl) such as an alkali or alkaline earth metal salt, and, if necessary, with 0.05-10pts.wt. sterically bindered phenol compd. (c) to obtain the title composition. The resin component A is a polycondensate of phenol of formula II (wherein R2 is 1-3c alkyl; R3R4 are H or 1-3c alkyl; where the compd. must be substituted with an alkyl group. at least one ortho position to the OH group), said polycondensate on which a vineyl arom. compd. is grafted, a mixt. thereof with another resin component such as a vinyl arom. resin, or an elastomer component, etc. |
