titleOfInvention | Preparation of (+)-alpha-hydroxymethylbutyric acid |
abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare (+)-α-hydroxymethylbutyric acid by treating(±)-α-methyl- butyric acid with microorganisms belonging to Trichosporon genus. n CONSTITUTION: (±)-α-Methylbutyric acid is converted to (+)-α-hydroxymethyl- butyric acid by the aerobic cultivation of microorganisms belonging to Trichosporon genus, e.g. Trichosporon fermentans CBS2529 strain, in a medium containing ±- α-methylbutyic acid at 4.0W9.5pH. As an alternative method, (+)-α-hydroxy- methylbutyric acid is prepared by culturing the above microorganisms in a nutrient medium at 4.0W9.5pH, adding (±)-a-methylbutyric acid to the cultivation liquid or the suspension of the microorganisms obtained from the liquid, and reacting under aerobic conditions keeping the pH at 6.0W9.0. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
