titleOfInvention Preparation of (-)-alpha-hydroxymethylbutyric acid
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare (-)-α-hydroxymethylbutyric acid by treating (-)-α-methyl- butyric acid with microorganisms belonging to Candida genus. n CONSTITUTION: (-)-α-Methylbutyric acid is microorganisms belonging to Candida genus, e.g. Candida rugosa IFO0750 strain, in a medium containing (-)-α-methylbutyric acid at 4.0W9.5pH. As an alternative method, (-)-α-hydroxymethyllbutyric acid is prepared by culturing the above microorganisms in a nutrient medium at 4.0W9.5pH, adding (±)-α-methylbutyric acid to the cultivation liquid or the suspension of microorganisms obtained from the liquid, and reacting under aerobic conditions keeping the pH at 6.0W9.0. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
