titleOfInvention | Curing of phenolic resin |
abstract | PURPOSE: To elongate the pot-life of a resol-type phenolic resin at normal temperature, and to enable the rapid curing with heat, by adding a resorcinol resin and an amino resin to the phenolic resin. n CONSTITUTION: A resol-type phenolic resin is compounded with a resorcinol resin and an amino resin, and the composition is cured by heating. The amount of the resorcinol resin is ≤100pts.wt./100pts.wt. of the phenolic resin, and that of the amino resin is 5W200pts.wt./100pts.wt. of the resorcinol resin. The resorcinol resin is a condensation product of a resorcinol compound and an aldehyde or a compound having similar activity to aldehyde. The curing can be carried out rapidly by heating at 120°C. For example, in the manufacturing of plywood, the troubles of the bond failure caused by precuring can be eliminated and the manufacturing conditions such as water-content of a veneer, the temperature and time of hot pressing, etc. can be remarkably moderated. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
