NEW MATERIAL:An alkanoic acid derivative of formulaI[R 1 is H, hydroxyl, lower alkyl; R 2 is hydroxyl, lower alkoxy, formula II (R 3 , R 4 are H, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl); A is lower alkylene; Z is -N=, -CH=]and its salt. n EXAMPLE: Methyl 4-(4-hydroxy-2-pyrimidyl)thiobutyrate. n USE: Antiulcerative and anti-inflammatory. n PREPARATION: For example, the Schotten-Baumann reaction between a carboxylic acid of formula III or its derivative activated in the carboxyl group and a halocarboxylic alkyl ester such as methyl chloroformate is conducted in the presence of a base such as triethyamine and the resultant mixed acid anhydride is made to react with an amine of formula IV to give the compound of formulaIwhere R 2 is formula II. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
