abstract NEW MATERIAL:A fluoran compound shown by the formula I (R 1 and R 2 are methyl or ethyl; R 3 are lower alkyl) having 2-(acylphenyl)amino group. n EXAMPLE: 2-(4-Acetylphenyl)amino-6-diethylamino-fluoran. n USE: A dyestuff precursor useful as (electrically-conductive) heat-sensitive recording chart, pressure-sensitive duplicating paper, etc. Almost no natural coloring of the chart itself, having high coloring concentration, low starting temperature of coloring, and improved starting of coloring. n PROCESS: For example, a diphenylamine compound (e.g., 4-methyoxy-4'-acetyl- diphenylamine, etc.) shown by the formula II (R is H or lower alkyl) is reacted with a benzophenone compound [e.g., 2-(2-hydroxy-4-dimethylamino)benzoyl-benzoic acid, etc.] shown by the formula III in the presence of a condensation agent, e.g., conc. sulfuric acid, etc, at 0W80°C. Water and an alkali are added to the reaction product and it is adjusted to a pH8W10 to give a deposit, which is treated with toluene, etc. and separated. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
