abstract | NEW MATERIAL:The N-phthaloylglutamic acid γ-thioester or formula (R is lower alkyl, aralkyl, or phenyl). n EXAMPLE: DL-N-Phthaloylglutamic acid γ-thiophenyl ester. n USE: An intermediate of optically active tryptophan which is one of the essential amino acids useful as additive of foods, feeds, etc., and drugs such as an amino acid solution for transfusion, antidepressant, etc. n PROCESS: The optically active compound of formula is prepared by reacting optically active N-phthaloylglutamic acid anhydride with a thiol of formula RSH such as thiophenol in a solvent such as acetonitrile, optionally in the presence of an organic base such as triethylamine, at a temperature between -10°C and room temperature for 30minW3hr. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
