abstract | PURPOSE: A long-life dynamic scattering mode liquid crystal display element that is made by using a liquid crystal composition that contains a cyclohexylbiphenylcyclohexane as well as has negative dielectric anisotropy, thus showing good DS display characteristics such as high contrast and high speed response. n CONSTITUTION: One or more cyclohexylbiphenylcyclohexane of the formula (R, R' are alkyl) are used as the major component and, when used for DS display, mixed with a liquid crystal of large negative dielectric anisotropy such as Schiff base, azoquinone or phenyl benzoate to give a liquid crystal of negative dielectric anisotropy. n EFFECT: The resultant composition has characteristics suitable for time-sharing driving mode and expands the DS-display operating temperature range toward lower side. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
