abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having remarkably improved resistance to generation of water-tree in the insulating material, and suitable for power cable, etc., by compounding a β-diketone to an electrical insulating polymer. n CONSTITUTION: An electrical insulating polymer, suitably an insulating material for a CV cable, is prepared by kneading 100pts.wt. of a low-density polyethylene with 0.005W5pts.wt. of a β-diketone having the main skeleton of formula, especially, acetylacetone, etc. The composition forms an organic metal complex with the metallic ion existing in polluted water and responsible for the water-tree deterioration of the insulating material, and stabilizes the ion. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
