PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound, easily, in high yield and purity, by the dehydrative condensation of an arylamine with a phenol using a phenyl or alkylphenyl ester of phosphorous acid as a catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The titled compound is prepared by the dehydrative condensation of an arylamine (e.g. aniline) and a phenol (e.g. phenol) at 200W450°C under pressure using phenyl ester or alkylphenyl ester of phosphorous acid as a catalyst. The concentration of the catalyst is pref. 0.5W10wt%, based on the mixture of the raw materials. n EFFECT: The production of diphenyl ethers by the self-condensation of phenol can be completely suppressed. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
