titleOfInvention Hemostatic agent for bleeding in gastiric biopsy
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a hemostatic agent for the bleeding in the gastric biopsy, which can be administered through the endoscope, can check the bleeding at the part of the biopsy surely and rapidly, and has low toxicity and no side effect, by using a water-soluble salt, etc. of alginic acid as an active component. n CONSTITUTION: An agent containing a water-soluble salt (e.g. Na salt, K salt, etc.) of alginic acid as an active component. The agent can be administered through the endoscope, and checks the bleed caused by the gastric biopsy (usually within several min.). Alginic acid is a polysaccharide (constituted of D-mannuronic acid and L-gluronic acid) belonging to polyuronic acid which exists in the form of Ca salt or Mg salt in the cell wall or between the cells of brown algae such as tangle, kajime, etc., and can be obtained by extracting the brown algae with dilute alkaline solution and purifying as an Na salt. The water-soluble alginic acid has pref. an average molecular weight of usually 60,000W250,000. The concentration of the aqueous solution is pref. 3W5W/V%, and infused at a dose of about 10W60ml at a time. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
