PURPOSE: To prepare the titled hormone in a large quantity at a low cost, by transplanting cells derived from a man having the ability to produce the titled hormone to a nonhuman warm-blooded animal body, and reacting the resultant cells with an inducer for the titled hormone. n CONSTITUTION: Cells having the ability to produce a human follicle-stimulating hormone, e.g. basophilic cells or tumorous basophilic cells of the anterior lobe of the human hypophysis, are transplanted to a warm-blooded animal body, e.g. a bird, dog, rat, hamster or nude mouse, and multiplied. Alternatively, the cells derived from a man are multiplied in a chamber while supplying a body fluid containing a nutrient from the animal body to the chamber. The resultant cells are then reacted with an inducer for the follicle-stimulating hormone, e.g. lysine, arginine or sodium chloride, salted out, filtered and freeze-dried to purify and separate the human follicle-stimulating hormone which is then collected. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
