PURPOSE: To use an easily treatable catalyst repeatedly and to obtain a formamide in high yield, by reacting ammonia with an amine, diamine and carbon monoxide in a liquid phase in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst of a platinum group metal. n CONSTITUTION: Ammonia is reacted with an amine shown by the formula I (R 1 is H or 1W10C alkyl; R 2 is 1W10C alkyl), a diamine shown by the formula II (R 3 is 1W10C alkylene) and carbon monoxide in a liquid phase in the presence of hydrogen and a catalyst, e.g., a platinum group metal such as ruthenium, rhodium, their oxides, hydroxides, inorganic salts, e.g., chloridies, sulfates, nitrates, etc. at 50W 300°C to give a formamide. The catalyst is used in a concentration of preferably 1×10 -4 W1mol/l. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
