titleOfInvention Method of effecting uniform reaction when hydrogen is absorbed
abstract PURPOSE: When a hydrogen gas is stored by absorbing it in a hydrogen-absorbing metal, the hydrogen gas is passed through a porous glass membrane and brought into contact with the metal to effect uniform hydrogen absorption. n CONSTITUTION: The outside tube of quartz or stainless steel 1 is filled with a powder of a hydrogen-absorbing metal forming a hydride with hydrogen 3 except a little space on the top. The inside tube of porous glass 2 is inserted into the center of the outer tube 1 filled with the metal powder 3 and a hydrogen gas is sent through the porous wall of the inside tube into the metallic powder 3. At the same time, the surface of the outside tube is cooled with a heat-exchange medium to remove the heat formed when the metal 3 is hydrogenated to prevent retardation of the hydride formation of the metallic powder. Further, the distribution of the blown-in hydrogen gas is made more uniform by the porous glass to effect hydride formation more uniformly. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
