PURPOSE: Saccharides are separated using hydrophobic chromatography to obtain plural fractions with different physiological activities, e.g., mucosaccharides used as medicines such as heparin, an anticoagulant, in high efficiency. n CONSTITUTION: Saccharides are separated and purified using hydrophobic chromatography to effect adsorption and elution. As saccharides, are used heparin, chondroitin sulfuric acid, dermatan sulfate, hyaluronic acid or chondroitin-polysulfuric acid. A buffer solution of saccharides is passed through a column filled with a chromatography carrier bearing hydrophobic ligands such as alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups such as octylagarose to effect adsorption. Then, an eluting solution is passed through to effect fractionation, thus obtaining the objective isolated and purified saccharide. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
