abstract | PURPOSE: To produce titled copolymer having excellent transparency, by esterfying a dicarboxylic acid with a glycol and a polyalkylene glycol in the presence of an organotitanium compound and a specified polyhydric alcohol and, thereafter, polycondensing the resulting ester. n CONSTITUTION: A dicarboxylic acid component (A) containing at least 50mol% aromatic dicarboxylic acid is esterified with a glycol (B) containing at least 70mol% 1,4-butanediol and a polyalkylene glycol (C), MW400W6,000, in the presence of an organotitanium compound (D) as an esterifying catalyst containing 0.001W 0.03wt% Ti based on polymer formed, e.g., tetraalkyl titanate, and at least 1.0mol time (with respect to Ti of component D) and up to 0.4mol% (based on component A) of polyhydric alcohol (E) of the formula, wherein R is hydrocarbyl or methylol, at a temperature which is raised gradually from about 150 to 220W240°C.
