abstract | PURPOSE: To decrease NOX contained in exhaust gases using a simple device without using any catalysts, by a method wherein pulverized coal having a fuel ratio of not higher than a specified value is added to the exhaust gas generated from the combustion of a coal at a thermoelectric power station, followed by the addition of air for removing unburnt components. n CONSTITUTION: The pulverized coal having a fuel ratio of not higher than 1.8 is charged from a line 4 into the exhaust gas generated from the main combustion of a fuel by main burners 2 fitted to a furnace body 1 for a boiler and over-fire air 3. The NO contained in the exhaust gas is reduced by hydrocarbons, NH 3 , HCN and the like which are generated from the pulverized coal. On the downstream side, air for removing the unburnt components is introduced through a line 5 to burn the unburnt components such as CO, HC etc. completely and the thus clearned exhaust gas is discharged from the boiler. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
