titleOfInvention 5'-hydroxyjasmonic acid derivative, its preparation, and its intermediate
abstract NEW MATERIAL:The 5'-hydroxyjasmonic acid derivative of formula I (R 1 ' is HOCH 2 CH 2 C≡CCH 2 , group of formula II, or HOCH 2 CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 CH 2 ; R is H or lower alkyl; when R 1 ' is the group of formula II, R is lower alkyl other than methyl). n EXAMPLE: 2-(5-Hydroxy-2-pentynyl)-3-methoxycarbonylmethyl-1-cyclopentanone. n USE: Useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of jasmine ketolactone which has hitherto been separated from natural jasmine essential oil. The compound itself has jasmine flavor, and is also useful as a base of perfume. n PROCESS: The compound of formula V (R 1 ''' is HOCH 2 CH 2 C≡CCH 2 ) which is one of the compounds of formula I can be prepared, e.g. by the decarboxylation and detetrahydropyranoxylation of the cyclic keto-triester derivative of formula III (R" is methyl, etc.; R 2 is group of formula IV, etc.) in a solvent such as water and an lower alcohol of formula R 3 OH (R 3 is lower alkyl) in the presence of an acid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
