titleOfInvention Recording paper
abstract PURPOSE:To offer a pressure-sensitive or themosensitive recording paper, which forms a black color, excellent in water and light-resistance, by forming a coloring layer containing a specified fluoran derivative as an electron-donating coupler on a support. CONSTITUTION:A fluoran derivative represented by formula IV is obtained by reacting 1mol of a compound represented by formula I (where R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxyalkyl, benzyl or cyclohexyl; R2 is H, 1-4C alkyl or halogen; X is H or halogen; m is 1-3; i is 1-4), 1mol of a compound represented by formula II (where R1' is R1; R2' is R2; Y is X; n is 1-3; j is 1-4) and 1mol of a phenol derivative represented by formula III (where R3-6 are H or methyl; R7 and R8 are H, methyl or ethyl). This fluoran derivative is used as an electron-donating coupler to produce a pressure-sensitive or thermosensitive recording paper in a conventional manner.
