PURPOSE: To increase the dissolution rate of a slightly soluble drug and improve the absorption and the bioavailability, by adding a soluble protein to the slightly soluble drug, and pulverizing the protein and the drug simultaneously. n CONSTITUTION: A soluble protein is added to a slightly soluble drug, e.g. phenytoin, sulfisoxasole or phenacetin, and both are pulverized simultaneously. Gelatin, lysozyme or albumin may be preferred as the protein. A hydrophilic high polymer, e.g. polyvinylpyrrolidone or methyl cellulose, is added and pulverized simultaneously to further improve the dissolution rate of the drug. The resultant pulverized substance is then formulated into a powder, granule, tablet or suppository and used. The dissolution rate of the drug is remarkably improved compared with that of the individual drug, and improved drug effect can be produced even in a small amount of the drug. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
