titleOfInvention | Production of porous hollow fiber membrane |
abstract | PURPOSE: The spinning material composed of cellulose acetate and calcium carbonate is made into fiber and the calcium carbonate is removed by extraction to produce the titled porous hollow fiber membrane that is suitable to plasmapheresis and applicable to disease treatment and production of blood preparations. n CONSTITUTION: Cellulose acetate of 50W62% acetylation degree and 80W400 polymerization degree and another polymer such as polymethacrylic acid are dissolved in a solvent to form a solution of 10W20wt% concentration. Calcium carbonate, preferably its fine powder of less than 1 micron average particle size is added to the above solution by 30W200%, based on the total polymers and the resultant dope is made into hollow fiber by the wet method. Then, the calcium carbonate is removed by dipping the hollow fiber in a 1W10% hydrochloric acid solution to give the objective porous hollow fiber membrane. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio |
