abstract PURPOSE: To provid a recording material having a excellent properties useful for pressure-sensitive recording sheets and photosensitive recording sheets, by using a novel fluoran derivative as a coloring matter precursor. n CONSTITUTION: A recording material contains a fluoran derivative having an amino group at position 2 and a diarylamino group at position 6 of a fluoran skeleton, pref. a compd. of the formula wherein Ar, Ar' are each aryl or a heterocyclic ring residue or together may form a heterocyclic ring; R 1 , R 2 are each H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic ring residue, or together may form a heterocyclic ring; R 3 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen; R 4 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen. This derivative is a novel compd. and rapidly dyes a recording sheet greenish black to black when in contact with an electron accepting material such as activated clay.
